Utility-Scale Ground-Mount PV

The same string protection, repeated across the plant

A ground-mount plant repeats one string hundreds of times. The fault that matters is a 1000 V device on a 1500 V string, or a combiner counted for the wrong number of inputs.
Pronto supplies the low-voltage protection that repeats: DC fuses, DC breakers, DC surge devices and combiner boxes, on one bill of materials.

Challenges

What shows up when the same string is copied

1000 V parts on a 1500 V string

The table looks the same. The string voltage does not.

Wrong number of inputs

The combiner is counted for 12 strings and the row is built for 16, or the other way around.

Batch that is not one batch

The same line on the purchase order arrives as two makers, because it was split across suppliers.

Documents after the containers

Datasheets and the model list are still being collected when the tables are already on site.

Playbook

How a ground-mount string is protected

  1. Fix the string voltage first

1000 V and 1500 V are different device lists. The row layout does not decide that.

  2. One combiner definition

Inputs, fuse size, DC breaker and DC surge device, written once and copied down the purchase order.

  3. Keep the batch together

The repeated lines ship as one supply, with the same maker and the same documents on every line.

  4. Documents with the order, not after it

Datasheets and the model list leave with the confirmation, before the tables are on site.

Where the devices sit

The drawing shows the path from the array to the grid. Pronto coordinates the low-voltage protection on that path. Modules, inverters and batteries are not part of the supply.

Contact

Send the specification, not a general enquiry

String voltage, inverter model and the board schedule are enough to start a device list. Stock and delivery are checked from Poland, Hungary and China.

  • String Voc, Isc and number of strings
  • Inverter DC input and AC output
  • Combiner inputs, if the strings meet in a box
  • Where the AC output lands
